Watermelon Universe: Straight to Video

June 5, 2019 · Discuss on the Geek Therapy Forum

Get ready for a three episode extravaganza. Listen to us cover Steven’s childlike perspective on Garnet and whether that is appropriate to his age in Garnet Universe. Ponder the ethics of a God-like Steven in Watermelon Stevens. Last but DEFINITELY not least, we go into a deep dive of the Emmy award nominated episode Lion 3: Straight to Video. Marc talks about the profound sense of loss Steven feels and Sadie’s reevaluation of the relationship with her own mother. Kat talks about what the Pink dimension in Lion’s mane implies about Steven’s relationship with his mother. Lastly Gian goes on a long tangent about how inspired he is by Dogcopter’s words and the art of home videos (?) .

Keep Fusion Cuisine Weird

May 26, 2019 · Discuss on the Geek Therapy Forum

Why does Marc hate Ronaldo so much?????lol Ronaldo is having an existential crisis and it’s up to his good friend Steven and his little brother Peedee to help him out during this time.

Steven has grown a lot from secret team. Now Connie is keeping secrets and he knows where that leads. HCAT discuss Nuclear families and explains some possible cultural differences that may explain why Connie would lie to her parents.

Secret Adventure

April 24, 2019 · Discuss on the Geek Therapy Forum

When are secrets ok? Steven,Pearl, and Amethyst keep a secret from Garnet so that they don’t get in trouble. Is it better to keep a secret in this situation, or would it have been better to just tell her the truth. The episode also discusses the relationship between Pearl and Amethyst and their constant bickering unless they are scared they will have to go against Garnett.
A nice vacation to a secluded island via a warp pad with Steven, Lars and Sadie, can help benefit Sadie and “be for Lar’s own good.”
Sadie and Lars reverse the standard gender roles in this episode with what their chosen skill set. Is Sadie gaslighting Lars? She seems to be blaming him for not wanting enjoying being trapped on an island.

Space Guest

March 30, 2019 · Discuss on the Geek Therapy Forum

The group discusses the power of mind over matter and how negative self-talk can cause impotence, as evidenced in the episode of House Guest, and the importance of gaining trust and how easy it is to break that trust in people. Of course, as always, the group discusses attachment, as well as co-parenting in Greg and Pearl and the importance of communication in co-caregivers. Topic that can be looked up for further research, sex therapy.
Kat asked:
Is Steven’s superpower of empathy so strong because he is a crystal gem, or is it because he’s half human?

Ocean Mirror

March 21, 2019 · Discuss on the Geek Therapy Forum

This episode is all about our favorite water-bending gem, Lapis Lazuli. We discuss questions on lore, the relationship of the crystal gems with gem artifacts and trauma. We give free rein for Kat to unload all of her PTSD experience. Marc talks about the repeated trauma that corrupted gems experience. Gian discusses AI and mental health stigma along with its relationship with the prison system. We share our frustration over not being able to spoil Lapis facts to aid our discussion. Most of all, we geek out about how much we love Lapis and Steven’s progress with his sympathy powers.

Charge up your empathy batteries, this episode is all about empathizing with Centipeetle’s trauma and Steven’s struggle to find his emotional core. This is followed by An Indirect Kiss, an episode all about getting in touch with your feelings and shipping Connie + Steven.

Get ready for questions like:
Can gem Centipeetles have mental illnesses?
Did Steven and Connie really kiss?
Why is it important for everyone to be able to identify mental illness when it happens?

Most of all, laugh as Gian and Kat struggle and stumble to fulfill the role of synopsis person.
